Dominion is a fun, easy to learn, deck building card game. Each player starts with an identical, very small deck of cards. In the center of the table is a selection of other cards the players can "buy" as they can afford them. Through their selection of cards to buy, and how they play their hands as they draw them, the players construct their deck on the fly, striving for the most efficient path to the precious victory points by game end. 2-5 players. The game usually takes 30-45 minutes. No gam …

When the bizarre food arrives, each person takes their turn to sample it. If they are a timid eater, we may ask that person to try more. After they give their impressio …

This is a group for women of African Descent 40 years of age and older who love women. It's for anyone new to the Bay Area or not. Let's break away from the bars (and, okay, sometimes also go to bars) and have some real fun. ALL 20-something queer-identified folk (and their friends) are enthusiastically welcomed. My hope is to develop a sense of community through recurring events. Some ideas for events include potlucks, game nights, movies, hikes, club nights, and happy hours. If you have any ideas, please suggest them! Activities take place mainly in Oakland, and sometimes in Berkeley and San Francisco.
There are several Meetup book clubs in the East Bay, but many of them are specialized (e.g., women-only, we only read such-and-such books, etc.), or their meetings fill to capacity so fast that I never get a chance to rsvp - so I decided to start this one. I previously participated in a fantastic book club in Chicago, which gave me the opportunity to read some great books that I probably wouldn't have found on my own. I hope to continue that trend here! This is a mixed-gender book club for anyon …

Do you like basketball, but can't seem to find a semi-regular pick-up game in Oakland? Would you describe your bball skills, at best, as decent to slightly better than average? Did you play basketball for your high school? Are you in your late 20's or 30's and have seemingly lost a quick first step? Do you enjoy a competitive game, but more than anything, just want to play some solid basketball with a good group of guys and to get in some exercise? Let's make it fun, competitive, fairly regular …

Brrr... it's cold out there. Come join like minded foodies for Sunday dinner. Whereas Sunday is often leftovers night, join us for a home cooked meal and make new friends. Comfort food will be the theme as the cold weather leaves us craving heavier dishes and warmer food. The emphasis will be on fresh, locally grown and organic produce, free-range meats and California wines. Think sinful desserts made with Calebaut Chocolate, sweet berries, or Creme Brulee if you're game. If you like cooking wit …
